As Rock 'n Roll quickly approaches its diamond anniversary, the phrase "indie pop", has been bandied about as casually as "alternative" was while
Games For May was still in high school.
To be perfectly honest with you, I'm not sure I have any idea what makes any particular song or album either of those things. I mention this, good people, because in trying to decide how to explain my love of Games For May's
first album, it occurred to me to describe the band as "indie pop", because that's what somebody smarter than me would do. I am not smarter than me. "The Season Is The Reason" is a great album because it's a great rock 'n roll album.
Rock 'n roll in the tradtion of Beatles and Kinks, Velvet Underground and Modern Lovers, X and Rondelles. Each song tugs at your attention and emotions in a way that finds you constantly torn between playing it again and
finding out what the next track has in store.
